2025 RSA Research Fellowships
The Renaissance Society of America is offering fellowships of $2,000–$3,750 to scholars working in the field of Renaissance studies (1300–1700).
The RSA’s 2025 Research Fellowships competition is now open. For the 2025 cycle, the RSA will award fellowships of $2,000–$3,750 to scholars working in the field of Renaissance studies (1300–1700). Fellowships are made possible by donations and bequests from RSA members, grants from the American Trust for the British Library and the Samuel H. Kress Foundation, and support from the Virginia Fox Stern Center at Johns Hopkins University. T
How to apply
To submit an application, you must be a current RSA member. If you are not a current member, please renew your membership before applying for a fellowship.
Model proposals and statistics about previous fellowship cycles, available on the RSA Fellowships webpage, provide additional information about the application process. Over the past five years, the RSA has awarded fellowships to more than 100 scholars at all career stages, working on topics from the fourteenth to the seventeenth century in many different fields.
Forthcoming for the 2026 fellowship cycle: beginning with the application cycle in fall 2025 (deadline: September 2025), applicants must have been an RSA member for at least 12 months immediately prior to application, in order to be eligible. This change consolidates the funding available for fellowships while recognizing that the number of applicants is only a portion of the membership. The Society offers membership rates that vary with income.
