The HRC Art Collection

The Ransom Center’s art collection —ranging from 15th-century prints to contemporary artworks— provides a rich resource for advancing inquiry into the creative process. The collection features holdings related to publication history, book art and design, artists’ collaborations with fine presses; visual works by literary figures, including Lawrence Ferlinghetti, E.E. Cummings, and Tennessee Williams; significant works on paper by French and Latin American modernists; and 19th- and 20th-century visual satire. Particular archival strengths include papers and works of Nancy Cunard, Charles Henri Ford, Pavel Tchelitchew, Ed Ruscha, Anita and Leah Brenner, and Eric Gill. Research in the art collection is further enhanced by the Center’s extensive related holdings in photography, performing arts, film, early books, and literature.
